Gerard Latham

I entered the world of recruitment 25 years ago. My first role was with a West London based High Street agency, where I received industry-leading professional recruitment training. Within a year of joining, I was one of the top three billing consultants across London and the South East, placing multiple candidates.

During this time, I had significant success placing talent with a global engineering company. A specialist technical recruitment agency competitor also supplied this engineering company and asked their HR department if they could recommend a good recruiter as they were looking to grow their team. My client recommended me based on exceptional service and results, and I was subsequently approached, accepted a job and employed in my first specialist technical recruitment role.

Two years later, another technical recruitment agency approached me with the offer of a more senior role. With more scope for career development, it made sense to make the transition. During the next six years, I was promoted to manage and build a successful team of specialist permanent and contract recruitment consultants.

I always wanted to run my own business, so In 2007 I set up Zebra Technical Recruitment. I have since built a reputable business supplying SMEs and larger corporate engineering companies with permanent and contract staff during this time.


Now, based in the city of St Albans in Hertfordshire,  I enjoy playing golf at my local club, cycling, cooking, travelling and spending time with friends and family in my spare time.

People often ask, "Why is your business called Zebra Technical Recruitment?" Well, I first opened an office in my home town of Tring in Hertfordshire. The town was famous at the turn of the last century for the eccentric Lord Rothschild. As a banker and zoologist, he famously used Zebras to pull his carriage and was often seen around town, so the name seemed fitting!
